German euro coins feature three separate designs for the three series of coins. The minor coins feature German oak twig which was also featured on the former pfennig; the middle coins the Brandenburg Gate as a symbol of division and unity; the two major coins a interpretation of the German eagle, symbol of German sovereignty.
