The 2008 3 Euro commemorates Slovenia’s six month reign as President of the European Union, from January to June of 2008. The position is a six month term, which rotates among the members of the European Union. The post has virtually no power, but it provides a good excuse for striking a coin. The coin features a star on one side, and a field of stars on the other, representing the members of the European Union.
